Marvelous Misty Top
I choose to refer to my newest top as ‘marvelous’ as it was a pleasure to work with both the pattern and fabric from start to finish. I have had this gorgeous 1 meter thrifted fabric in my stash for about a year now so finally cutting into it was quite magical.
Fabric Details
I have no idea what the content of this fabric is which is typically the downside of thrifting. If I had to guess, I’d say it is some sort of polyester blend based on the feel of the fabric. It is nice and medium-weight with just enough drape. Not having enough of this fabric meant I had to think long an hard about what I wanted to make with it. I think it was just waiting for this pattern to show up so I could finally use. This will be perfect for layering this fall!
Pattern Details
The Misty Top by Sew Altered Style is a simple top with a deep V-neck and fun straps. It also comes in a dress version as well. I love that it features a V-neck but is designed to not show as much cleavage (if you do want some cleavage though, simply lower the straps when sewing them in). The straps are my favorite part of this top obviously :-)
My Measurements
Bust 39”
Waist 34”
Size made: Size 14, D cup
Modifications
I lengthened the lining of the top as I found it quite short. I made it about 2inches shorter than the main top length. A couple of sewists had also reached out to mention that when I shared i was about to make one. That’s what I love about the sewing community…sharing is caring right?
Styling
Oh I will be styling the crap out of this top because it is part of my fall wardrobe. For these photos, I simply paired it with high-waisted jeans because it was a beautifully warm day. As it gets colder, it’ll be layered with tops, sweaters, and paired with blazers. Can’t wait!
Happy Sewing,
