Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

Mismatched Cielo Top

Mismatched Cielo Top

Hello fellow sewists! I present to you another Pinterest inspired make. This time, I used the Cielo Top pattern by Closetcase Patterns to achieve this look. I love to make ‘not-so-basic’ basic tops so when I saw the original photo on Pinterest I immediately knew I wanted to make my own version!

Pattern Details:

The Cielo Top is described as an easy, breezy take on a boxy tee and shift dress with a lot of interchangeable features. To achieve my desired look, I sewed up View A which is a semi-cropped top with a cuffed short sleeve. My favorite feature of this pattern has go to be the angled yoke at the back. It is such a cool feature and makes for a lot of fun possibilities.

Fabric Details:

I used a spotted lightweight viscose poplin I had bought from Blackbird Fabrics to achieve this look. Of course, I bought three different colors at the time so it was the only thing in my fabric stash that worked for this project and it was perfect!

Modifications:

None. Nada. Zilch. Yes, this girl who is obsessed with hacking patterns made no modification to this pattern.

I love how this turned out so much I wore it two days in a row (please don’t judge lol). It is easy breezy, perfect for layering this coming fall, and quick to make! You will be seeing me play with this pattern a lot so brace yourselves :-)
