Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

New Look Mini Skirt

Spring automatically means mini skirts right? The warmer spring has definitely caused me to push up some more summer appropriate projects up my list. This New Look 6103 pattern was so much fun to sew up. It was very easy which is always a plus. My favorite thing about it is the shaped hem which is a fun feature to the usual regular mini skirt. Another feature for this pattern was a zipper detail but I decided not to put it on this skirt. My review for the pattern is below. Enjoy! DSC_0385

New Look 6103

Pattern Description:  Mini skirt with shaped hem & zipper trim detail (View B)

Pattern Sizing: Size 14 (waist = size 12)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The hem is my favorite part. It gives a simple mini skirt an additional fun feature.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not do the zipper trim detail on this skirt because I felt it would have been too busy. I'll try it on a solid fabric next time. I also didn't add interfacing to the hem and it still turned out fine.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Definitely!

Conclusion:  Great wardrobe builder. Will be making a few in both fun and solid fabrics.
