Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

Spring is coming! (+ pattern review)

I'm obviously excited for spring because I have already completed my first spring dress for the year! A review for this pattern is below. Enjoy! IMG_9494

Burdastyle 6918 Review

Pattern Description:  Maritime style summer dress (View B)

Pattern Sizing: Regular

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yup! Exactly like it.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Once I got past the confusion of pattern placements of the bodice, it was easy. Took a while though.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It would be nice to have better instructions. Labeling the pattern pieces in the instructions will make it a little easier.

Fabric Used: Cotton (slight stretch)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I ignored the little V opening in the front of the bodice and the hem band in the instructions.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yup. I love the style and plan to have at least two dresses in this style.

Conclusion: Slightly heavy fabric is the best kind if sewing view B to get more structure.
