Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

Fall is Coming! (McCall's 6842)

Summer is almost over :-( but that also means fall is almost here! :-) To welcome this beautiful season, I have started working on a few transitional pieces. This simple skirt is the first on the list! I love the way it turned out and will definitely be making a few more.

McCall’s 6842 Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Skirt with contour waist, yoke variation, back zipper, and narrow hem

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, exactly like it!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy. One of the easiest patterns I have ever used.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes!

Conclusion:  I think this is the ultimate beginner pattern. The instructions are easy to follow and it is a pretty quick project as well. Love it!
