Double Knit Goodness - The Adrienne Blouse Hack
Hello fellow sewcialists!
This time around, I am coming to you with some white, angelic goodness in the form of a double knit ponte from Measure Fabric. I knew exactly what I wanted to make and how I wanted to style it when I received it which rarely happens so this really got me excited.
The fabric
This fabric blew me away when I received initially received it. It is a double knit ponte with brushed raised woven pattern which means that the knit has a texture created by the grain, giving it an almost raised feeling. The pattern is abstract, but almost like a geometric zebra print. I must say that it was quite a challenge to photograph the details so below is a close-up for you to see the beauty.
It is such great quality and exactly the kind of knit fabrics I’m always keeping an eye for. It’s no surprise that I wanted to make a dress with it and it was such a dream to sew. I used the serger for 90% of this project so you can imagine how quick it went.
The process
I decided to hack the Adrienne Blouse by Friday Pattern Company into a dress. This is slowly becoming a tried and true pattern. I simply lengthened it to my desired measurement. I also decided to significantly shorten the sleeves in order to get more wear out of it during the warmer months and I love how it turned out! You can check out my first Adrienne Blouse here.
Styling
I paired my new dress with my ‘alter ego’ mustard, chunky heels and an African head wrap. Those pops of colour worked great with the white dress and I cannot wait to rock this on summer night dates!
Happy Sewing!
