Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

DIY Dress: Fun print kinda day!

For a change, I decided to sew a dress instead of my regular skirts and I do not regret the decision at all! It turned out great. I used an African wax print for this project. IMG_3873

BUTTERICK 5982 MISSES’ DRESS – PATTERN REVIEW

Description: close fitting dress with lined bodice, side front seams, and a pleated and gathered skirt.

View sewn: View A (without the belt)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes. It looks exactly like it

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I did not find anything that I disliked. This is a great pattern.

Fabric Used: African Wax Print (Cotton)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes! I’m actually working on a skirt right now with the help of this pattern.

Conclusion: This is a great pattern. I plan to sew more dresses, skirts, and even tops with the help of this pattern. I love it.
