Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

Hello everybody! It's time to share my fall makes round-up with y'all. Fall was such a productive season for me. My sewing skills are also improving with each project which is so exciting!

Dresses

Hemlock Tee - This is a free pattern by Grainline Studio which I hacked into a dress. It is such a great pattern for beginner sewers. I used a knit fabric I had in my stash from over a year ago.

McCalls 7429 - This twist-front dress was such a blast to make! The fabric was a gorgeous winter jersey from Fabricville. My review for the pattern and fabric can be found here.

McCalls 7566 - I used the bodice from M7566 pattern to make an African print maxi dress for my sister. I made adjustments to the neckline and used fabric I brought from a trip to Ghana. I usually list some in my Etsy shop.

York Pinafore - Paired one of my favorite turtleneck sweaters with my hacked York Pinafore pattern by Helen's Closet. The gorgeous navy teal mid-weight linen fabric is from Blackbird Fabrics.

Twist Knit Dress - I replicated one of my favorite RTW twist tops and made it into a dress!

Separates

Shoreline Boatneck top and Tillery Skirt - Both patterns are from Blankslate patterns. I made zero modifications to the top but hacked the skirt into a wrap skirt. The 'many faces' knit fabric and rust denim are both from Fabricland Canada.

Plaid matching set - I made this vibrant yet classic matching set using fabric from Minerva Crafts. I used a RTW as a pattern for the jacket and the Charlotte Skirt pattern from By Hand London for the skirt. My review will be available soon on Minerva's blog.

Burda 6463 - I made this classic blazer using a houndstooth suiting fabric and paired it with a turtleneck top I made using Megan Nielsen's Rowan Tee. My review can be found here.

Butterick 6244 - Of course I had to make this gorgeous B6244 cascading coat again this year! Love it, one of my favorite patterns of all time. My previous review can be found here.

Hemlock Tee - This is obviously a fav! See hemlock tee info provided above in my first photo.

McCalls 7630 - I made this beautiful ruffle sleeve top using crinkle linen from Blackbird Fabrics and paired it with my Charlotte Skirt.

Suki Kimono - This African Print kimono was one of the first things I made when it began to get cooler. My favorite this about it is the striped lining I used. The Suki Kimono pattern is by Helen's Closet.

Charlotte Skirt + Rowan Tee - I blogged about this a couple of months ago here but it is definitely worth a shout-out! Love it!
