Welcome to my blog! I created ‘The Ravel Out’ to capture my makes while I unravel my sewing ideas, one stitch at a time.

Ravel (out)

verb

  1. unravel; untangle.

  2. undo (twisted, knitted, or woven threads).

Pre-Spring Makes

Pre-Spring Makes

After starting the year on a high (I got married) and then a low (I got terribly sick for over a month right after), I am back in full swing sewing mode! Here are the projects I have made in the past month in preparation for Spring:

1. The Elisalex Dress

This pattern by By Hand London has such a great a great fit (specifically the bodice) that I have already made two. The fitted princess seamed bodice seems is very flattering. I opted for a self-drafted circle skirt instead of the pattern's boxed pleated tulip skirt. I personally do not think tulip shaped skirts look flattering on me so I did not even bother to try it.

By Hand London has a circle skirt calculator which is very handy for anyone who needs some guidance making that. I may dedicate a standalone blog post to this pattern with more feedback as I am already making a third one :-)

2. The Melilot Top

I made my first Melilot top and fell in love with it last fall so there is no surprise that it was one of the first patterns I picked up this year. I have already made two and will be making a couple more. Causal button-up tops are on the top of my must-have Spring/Summer items. You can find my review from my previous post here.

I am excited to share more of my upcoming makes.
